On my weekly blog, Point Made, I promised to share the rough draft of a play I'm writing. Why write a play?
As it happened, my friend and editor, Pam, and I were working on my novel, 26 Women. She, who has a ticket to every live performance in Milwaukee, said to me, "Jeff are you writing a stage play or a novel?" I thought I was writing a novel.
I took the manuscript from a story I was writing at the time, I called it StarStruck, copied and pasted it into a stage or screenplay script software, and reformated it. It seems to work. So what I'm going to do is share it with you a piece at a time. It's a rough draft so I will appreciate any comments you have about the technical issues or content.
Housekeeping business: As I often repeat, there are no hard feelings if you request to be dropped from my mailing list. Also if you have friends who you think might enjoy my ramblings, just email me their contacts ad I'll subject them to my mailings.
I am now blogging on a new platform BackStage. On this I will share news from the Milwaukee area theater companies. I enjoy conversing with the theater folks. Some of my articles appear in Urban Milwaukee .com. My BackStage blog will seek to focus on information and news that is not covered by most news outlets.
I will not be doing criticism. My peers are far more qualified. I may comment on performances I like and what I like about them, but I have no background that would permit me to analyze theater and I won't live long enough to gain that knowledge.
Last but hardly least I will occasionally be making entire to my Website Blog, BoundToBeGood.com. this is essentially about my fiction writing.
The big news here is I'm looking at self-publishing my first novel, 26 Women. My blogs on this site have been and will continue to be my observations about the commonality of the process in the arts. It seems no matter your choice of vehicles you use to express yourself, the process from creation to production is similar.
